Samuel and I knew there were snakes in the yard, we have been looking for weeks. Ever since finding not one, but two snake skins belonging to snakes larger than the Rough Earth Snakes we commonly fine in the mulch, we knew we had to catch one. We have had two ribbon snake sightings, but never expected this handsome snake to show up. There he was, under a board we have purposely left in Samuel’s “jungle” portion of the back yard. He was feisty and aggravated, but calmed down long enough to be held.

He was returned to the place we caught him. Hopefully he will kill hundreds of slugs this summer!
